Music is like therapy for my soul
It lifts me up and makes my heart take flight
It carries me on gossamer wings
into realms of heavenly delight.

Music nourishes the deepest part me
It is more than joy or pleasure
It is beyond the simple five senses

Soothing and easing all and any pain
It never lets me down when I am in need

It has been with me from the start

From your avatar, it seems you might be a musician. All I can do is listen to it. I did write a song one time, but as I can't write music, I can't make a tune, so all I have are the lyrics. I can hear the music in my head, but as I can't sing, I can't get anyone who does write music to write it for me. Alas. Without music, it is just a poem. One I like, but still just a poem. I asked a friend who is a composer if she would write the music and she said sure sing it for me. Well as I said, I can't sing. But I tried. She laughed. Laughed, I tell you. Laughed so hard she had real tears running down her cheeks. She said that's not singing, that's a cat dying. Oh woe is me. I couldn't carry a tune if you packed it in a case with a carry handle on it.

I just laughed at my computer screen, and my roommate is now looking at me with the strangest facial expression. You hit the nail right on the head: I am a musician. Actually, I'm a percussionist. But I do play different instruments.

Your story reminds me of the song Fly Me to The Moon by Nat King Cole:
"Poets often use many words to say a simple thing. It takes thought, and time, and rhyme, to make a poem sing."

I think I should post my "song" here. Yah. I will. Soon. Minutes, in fact.
