Teenager`s Prayer

Post by happytrails » November 26th, 2010, 2:21 pm

Our Father, who art in the den
bellowing our names;
thy payday come, thy will be done,
until thy back is turned.
Give us this day, our weekly allowances
and lead us not into the time-out corner;
but deliver us , from the pizza parlor,
two large pepperoni and one medium Hawaiian.
Forgive us our back-talk, although
we have never forgiven anyone for anything.
For thine is the house and the car and the money,
until we all graduate and get jobs and homes of our own.

AMEN

Thanks. Just a bit of wishful thinking on my part, Jim.

Well, I have had some serious criticism on it from the religious people. But I tell them there is nothing disrespectful about it. It is about our earthly father. Thanks Dadio.

Um--and I would hope that plenty of the folk of faith would recognize that, earthly father or not, yours is a much more honest prayer on our lips than the many repetitions we pray of that which was on Jesus'. I do ask my Lord to teach me to pray...and I'm often hearing the response: be honest, be kind...and that will take you far. No criticism from me! Thanks and peace!

Thank you Joel and Lucy. It was fun to write and I am glad you weren't offended by it. Certainly no offense was meant. It was just supposed to be fun.

This has stuck in my head for a few days now since I first saw it. What a great capture of teenagers.
