American Dreamer

[saw]

Living with a nymphomaniac
is so tedious, the demands
are beyond the boundaries of rigorous
beyond the expectations of romance

they are cruel, unusual
and it was eons ago it seems
since a young man went off
in search of knowledge, set sail

to engage the universe
and he never could have anticipated
that one day he would embrace
such a fetish, as he was studying

in a foreign university
smoking his Camels, sipping cheap
but very good wine debating
the merits of existentialism

with gorgeous Parisians minds
at the river's edge til the sun
returned from its sleep
that he would turn out like

one of them
he was too young, too idealistic
too full of himself to dream he might become
one of those men doing the same thing

over and over again.
