my lucky cat's eye

Post by revolutionrabbit » January 14th, 2011, 4:42 am

my lucky cat's eye marble
the road looks like a spoon
or a long white arm with
veins running down time
I wrote the book of poems
back when wine was free
like a river of street lights
hanging like shadow talking
silences are things like stars
they come from the future
words wander the dark
looking for some line
spaces like jazz sits in cups
and plays with notes in
lost sentences, smoking
and thinking about nothing
language has not ended
here, in the lost meadow
of missing childhoods
hanging around doors
and looking for floors
we play in the colored dirt
days with head to the ground
looking through the grass
at each blade of green
the sun stabs though
each one a gold light
holds my lucky cat's eye
up to the directions, each
holds me suspended in voices
that once spoke in tree sounds
voids of rain drink steady drops
foot step goes down the spoon
road like a needle finds the thread

never drawn to the needle
or a long spoon road
man you have a gift
just shootin' marbles
that's all, out in
the icy glitter

sometimes, i write late at night
just a few lines that become a
few more, don't give it much
time, 34 or so short lines
in less minutes, 10 or so
leave the spoon in, long
a needle don't find a thread
too easy, a cat's eye marble
looks for the moment, memory
stars look up of down, a gift of
nowhere, or here or there
lucky a word

I was worried I might have put the jinx on your lucky cat's eye
You know you can count on me to miss a metaphor
I was just thinking how beautiful to read it was
I don't know how you do it. BUT
I sure do want to read it.
