man that was some nightmare
woke up with a black eye
and no memories
of yesterday or the day before
but somebody said they saw me
swinging the world by the tail
tearing up CCR songs at the open mike
like a man looking for six string justice
somebody said they saw me
down at The Scourge telling dirty jokes
to every Tom, Molly & Mary that would listen
buying drinks like friends
somebody said they saw me
commiserating with out of key strangers
singing juke box wonders as powerful
as Karaoke gods that need sacrifices
somebody said I like to sit til the end
til the man with the leather-clad billy-club
smacks it on the bar three times, once
for clarity, once for purpose and once
as a warning, sure, sure, somebody thinks
they saw something, sure, sure
big fucking deal, there's always somebody
believing their senses
