Panic and pain
Are all I feel.
Panic and pain.
This can't be real.
Panic and pain.
What will we do.
Panic and pain.
I wish I knew.
A little girl
Growing too fast.
Her childhood
Already in her past.
Drugs and alcohol,
Sex and tears.
Are the tools she uses
To hide her fears.
She can't get back
What she has lost.
She doesn't yet realize
What it has cost.
Poor little girl
Out in the rain.
And all I can feel
Is panic and pain.
Panic and Pain

Re: Panic and Pain
yes sometimes when we all we can do is watch, perhaps try to provide some measure of support, it can pain us to see loved ones suffering from their poor choices, or even bad luck.........it'd hard to be an unaffected bystander....if only we had a magic wand .......the poem has the honest lament of someone that deeply cares...........well don
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Re: Panic and Pain
Thank you both for your comments. I spent the day with her today. She is afraid, but not enough to change her behavior. I have given her a promise. No matter what time of day or night, if she is in a bad place, (physically or emotionally) she is to call me and I will get the money for her to take a cab to me, wherever I happen to be. That is the only thing I have to give her. My promise to be there for her if she needs me. Now, it is a waiting and hoping game.
