Studio8 - Uniting the Arts

it occurred to me
this very afternoon
sitting here on the bank
of this river, on the brink
of pristine magnificence
lost in my thoughts
immersed in nature's
impossible unsigned canvas
that heaven was not a place
that I cannot see, it was
right here, beneath my feet
and divinity was in every flower
branch, stone, leaf, molecule, atom
before my eyes, and perhaps
language has done a disservice
giving negative meanings
to seedy and dirty, I mean
even the word mundane
is from the Latin, mundus, the earth
so there, mundane I am
and I think to myself that man
has this nasty habit of taking
not giving back so much, I mean
why should it be necessary
to enact a law prohibiting littering
are we so utterly blind
that we cannot get into the majesty
before us, right here on earth,
how about enacting a law
of reciprocity, how about a law
of gratitude, or how about we swap
our sleepwalk of entitlement
for caretaker of life, how about
we burn our ethereal smallpoxed
blankets, wear our celestial beaded
necklaces with pride, what if progress
meant returning to primitive ideas ?
