Once I too was young and had the whole of

My life before me and had men wanting
To go out with me and bring flowers and
Fine gifts and take me out and dine me and

Hope for their goodnight kiss (and more perhaps)
And I remember Paris and Andre
And he showing me what French kissing was

And that was the first time (and I’ve never
Told anyone else) that I had sex and
It was such a disappointment and I

Remember staring at the ceiling as
He was fucking me feeling kind of out
Of it and wanting to know what I was

Supposed to sense and what I was supposed
To do or say and yes you can smile but
That was back then and women were women

And men were men and will you stop smiling
Like that and will you stop putting your hand
On my thigh why I’m old enough to be

Your mother and if you don’t behave young
Man I’ll put you across my knee now stop
That kissing and no there’s nothing I've been

Missing or forgetting and so Heidi
Moved away from her bedroom window and
Stopped looking at the young man passing in

The street below and felt somewhat empty
Inside heart and head and extremely low.
