her love shriveled
like a water-logged leather boot
that could no longer be coerced
upon an unwilling foot
the fracture she was told
would heal if she was mindful
not to exceed the suicidal speed
of all frustrated romantic gimps
those that oh so often ignore
the chemistry of fresh paint
leave their fidgety fingerprints
all over the place, in the wet latex
of wanting to get-on-with-it,
slow down my friend I said,
breathe deeply, the wind is
strong, and the day is young
the urgency of new
the urgency of new
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
you may end up where you are heading
Re: the urgency of new
good poem with fine word structure and theme.
Re: the urgency of new
he loved to play the doctor part
his calm maybe a sweet charade
-when he was not too serious-
my wounds, his passport
loved the title, saw!

I'm no vet
neither war's nor animal medicine's
but I know enough as joel
that when a filly or a foal
is whom I meet on the side of the street
or battlefield
or racetrack
with a broken leg and worn-out tack
that only this advice is true:
"You'd have to slow down, if I were you."
And then I'd whisper gently
before I'd shoot.
