My Better Life

Post by saw » March 19th, 2011, 9:36 am

Kaare is grilling the pork
in the summer kitchen
the Spanish red wine
is breathing
the Nidaros Cathedral Boys Choir
sings sweetly from our big screen,
and I am thinking about you

our time together in America
how adaptable you were
how creative, how funny.
Kaare is the vice president
of the Trondheim Bank, he
doesn't make rice pudding
with almonds, is indifferent

to candlelight, scents of musk
honey vanilla, what I dope
I was, criticizing your decorating
traditions, making you feel like
being an artist is not a life's work.
Kaare and I just returned from Estonia

drinking, fine dining, buying linens.
Kaare doesn't give me the shivers
when he pulls me close, my knees
never buckle.
Kaare will be the top dog one day.
He, doesn't fool around, doesn't
know how to be silly,

he take his life seriously.
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
