smarmy to break the block

Post by joel » March 21st, 2011, 6:44 pm

Is this centered? I couldn't uncenter. But I like the new layout.

...based loosely on an old interview on "Today" with La Toya Jackson. Life's too busy and my thoughts are too scattered. I've been wanting to write, but not been up to it. Maybe now with broader days....

I really like my smile today. It’s true.
I’m not the kind of guy who thinks his grin
is great, the kind who thinks his dimples set
him free from liability; I’m not
the kind of fool who smirks and jerks his head
in laughter’s nonchalant non sequitur—
but, yes: today I really like my smile.
I liked it when I woke this morning; I’ll
be just as happy when the comforter
comes over me tonight. I could’ve said
my teeth are stained— I could’ve said I’ve got
a crooked beam— except I like it, yet
it’s not the paragon of style, but then
again, I really like my smile. Don’t you?

always
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

Your smile, your words, are all the same to me. Charming. I've missed you. I didn't realize it until this moment, but I really have.
