the mysteries there

Post by the mingo » March 31st, 2011, 2:01 pm

who has killed who today ?
who will kill who tomorrow ?
I take my small boat out on the water
I take a bag of fig newtons with me
I look over the side to the rocks in
the depths below me
they look mysterious
my God says "Work quietly with your hands"
I am told my belief is primitive
that I hold with superstition
while all others rush forward shouting and
passionate and proclaiming & busy busy busy
with their guns & their hammers
and their buildings & their walls & their ideas
with ten thousand schemes for the wind & the waves
'til the day when the dust settles
but my God has not changed his mind for all this
he says to me "Work quietly with your hands"
and I do for I have found His advice to be solid
who has killed who today ?
who will kill who tomorrow ?
I wish everyone had a small boat
& a bag of fig newtons to go out on the water
and look over the side to see
the rocks in the depths below them & inside of them
and all mysteries there
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

Dear God,
be good to me,
for the sea is so wide,
and my boat is so small.

I look over the side to the rocks in
the depths below me
they look mysterious
my God says "Work quietly with your hands"
Thank you, mingo.
This is like having lunch with you.

this floats my boat- love fig newtons too- nice write
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---
