what if photography
was suddenly banned
men and women left
with only words and then
all the paintings in all the museums
were destroyed, and poets
and writers were now responsible
to paint new pictures
to replace them, and then
it was made illegal to own
writing implements, brushes
paint, ink ,crayon, chalk
were crimes to conceal...would we
wring our hands and cry like wet
unfed babies or would we carve
our words and pictures in trees
with screwdrivers or fingernails
paint pictures in mountain rock
with handmade contraband tools
color them with blueberries
blood and urine, would we whisper
in the ears of red-tailed hawks
peregrine falcons, high flying ospreys
that could soar above the range
of gunshot to defecate our messages
on the heads and shoulders
of our oppressors in bouquets of contempt,
I have to believe we would do this.
unstoppable
unstoppable
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
you may end up where you are heading

Re: unstoppable
I agree with snowman and dadio. The artists would find a way. Because they can't help themselves. What is in, if not released, builds up until it is unbearable and then it ether escapes or blows up.
