in america the
white whore station wagon sits out
in the darkness & the rain
it strikes the heart & mind of man
& is quickly scribbled down on
waste paper and shoved into a back pocket
to protect it from the same rain that would in a moment
bleed the hasty words to unreadable smears
and to save it toward a future
no different than this
