Straight Shooters ( Thx to creativesoul who, unknowingly, brought me the notion )

some days it's just
let me the hell out of here
out out out

most days no matter how you pace your race
or how you finesse your dodge
or trick up your moves
it never amounts to more than
nothin' but trouble.

but i suppose i brought it upon myself with my slacker ways
i mean you hardly never gonna
find me out gathering with the brothers
i figure after all these thousands of years if the brothers
ain't found it before now
it ain't gonna happen

and don't look for me on the "path" either
i've no problem any more leaving that to those
who get born with the stomach for such a course
my career has always lain
in a different direction from whatever

and now i've become an old man who finally knows,
after decades of scorched earth & smoke & ash
of slash & burn & drift
finally, how to write something of my own
about what i came to find at the bottom of it all
just this:

straight shooters are hard to find

God, give me the grace ...

...conviction of the crooked...the grace abounds....

I don't have the years and I haven't walked far enough to know the miles...but I'm grateful for the roadmaps of those who do and who have for the sake of others' leveled (or leveling) paths.

thanks for this, mingo. many different paths up the mountain, as i'm (all too) fond of saying. of course it would be easier for those "in charge" if we were all shunted into roughly the same one..

it's hard to find fault with sober honesty as one reflects on a life, indeed it is the only thing that makes sense in a world with such confounding images.....align yourself with the straight shooters when you find them, they will help you in turn,
find the grace........thanx for the reflections.........
