Bertha Bridebreak And The Stillness Of Stars

Bertha Bridebreak
Bludgeoned her husband to oblivion.
She sweet talked his end.
Bertha brought down the cold iron
On the bald space between ear and ear.
She watched his demise
Like an old movie played
Over and over, in her sleep and dreams.
She knew his dead end back and forth
Like a melody gone sour.
“Ain’t gonna touch me no more,”
Bertha said wiping the redness
From her flesh and eyes.
She listened to the night and the stillness of stars.
Bludgeoned her husband to oblivion.
She sweet talked his end.
Bertha brought down the cold iron
On the bald space between ear and ear.
She watched his demise
Like an old movie played
Over and over, in her sleep and dreams.
She knew his dead end back and forth
Like a melody gone sour.
“Ain’t gonna touch me no more,”
Bertha said wiping the redness
From her flesh and eyes.
She listened to the night and the stillness of stars.
