governments have a long history investing heavily in keeping their citizens afraid,
it's always been good for business, as evidenced by the staggering number of private contractors currently on the payroll........fear is good business.....

yes, continued imperial war-making and recycled rhetoric in our future.

and obama has stepped up the more unilateral, covert-type stuff... various terrorist whack-a-mole operation(s), from drones to special ops raids. (sorry about them collateral damages, folks..) if there really is a pervasive, shadowy terror problem out there, i suppose one could argue that "this is the only way to deal with it," but...

at least he doesn't simply claim "executive privilege" and leave it at that, like emperor george did. no, he's more politically sophisticated than that. he justifies these secret ops as part of the post-9/11 statement of national self-defense-- taking steps against those connected with the attacks. trouble is, many of his targets lately had nothing to do with 9/11...

i really did not want to write this
i try to speak about current events
without being too obvious
so that it still works on different levels
but on some level all poetry is revolutionary
or most or a lot or some wee bit that gives
it all some higher purpose, regardless
Ferlinghetti said that poetry can change the world
i always felt that way, poetry is about telling it
like it is...from the bottom of your experience
i always wanted to cut through all the hype
that is why i began writing in the first place
i saw the movie Howl recently, about Ginsberg
it captures the times a changing, and the poetry
that changes it, and with it.thank you
