rapture party

Post by mnaz » May 21st, 2011, 2:06 am

rapture party tomorrow
let us mambo jambo, everyone
we were invited by some preacher
who crunched his numbers again
on the tailgate of an old dodge
on a dusty old biblical desert

get out while you can! he said
let the great unwashed fight it out
what jesus meant means little
and tomorrow is the last day
god is ready to cash it in
these escapist holy wars

I am only replying to this because I am superstitious, this is a preemptive reply because I had the feeling you was going to delete it not edit it.

I am thinking about both versions.
what passes for theology lately
god is ready to cash it in

Works well both ways but you know me, I am always thinking about the filthy lucre. Well there's no bizness like show bizness

On with the show

Life is a carnival,

best joke I heard about it was Jon Stewart comment about the preachers advanced age. The guy probably will be out of here come Sunday the odds are. I keep making the same mistake, confusing my end with the world's end.

"desolate theology." Danilo Zolo ?

I wish I knew, all theology seems desolate to me.
In the future there will be neuro-theologians
till then I ain't laughing that much about it.
I'm just another attention whore myself
why else would I write?

I always liked that Johnny Cash version of It's Going By The Book. good video on you tube I thought

The Will To Power, I suppose that is what makes priests and preachers
But it is only human all to human, never read that book either.
Joel got a grip on the power trip, he still a simple poet man. ain't no better shepherd than that.

I have never read The Anti Christ, I read somewhere that it was mis-titled should have been translated as The Anti Christian.

I try to see it as if I am an outsider, with Patagonian eyes and it all becomes so interesting. as the world disappears under his feat, the wars and rumors of wars, it is all in the anthology of middle eastern religions, the horsemen, the beasts, the darkness in the deep,

boy oh boy I am very sorry about this horrible ramble completely typed out here.
but I had fun at your party
thank you for writing

i'm so out of it...

i thought today was the big day, not yesterday. but the hipsters are already making little quips about "not making the cut" and such...

yeah, a little too much of the vino last night... a great party though.

and yes, i did edit, for some reason. (1st thought, best thought?)... should never have ditched, "what passes for theology"...

thanks jack

I was outside in the yard,
awaiting the rapture
when talons grabbed my head,
and I found myself captured
instead, by a large raptor,
I was going up, sure!
But then my captor
suffered a rupture,
(my brain proving too much of a strain)
and I plummeted instead.
Some say it's depravity
that put me in my place but
I declare, 'twas gravity
that put me on my face.

ha !

on the way up to heaven
seems the same old laws of physics
still applied, how unrighteous...

nice riff, mb.................

emel, the "atheist community" in my fair city
put on a big "rapture party" (or maybe it's tonight)
in honor of some old preacher's preacher's guarantee
that the big day was yesterday (or was it today?)....

oh those godless scoundrel leftist no-good hipster freaks...

Everybody's got to believe something, I prefer the undying optimism of Bullwinkle.
