empire

Post by saw » June 16th, 2011, 8:10 pm

the statuesque liberty
a looming monument
way out there in the dirty
harbor water, what a strange
helmet she wears, kinda kinky
those harpoonish thorns
sticking out into the clouds
like a once fierce battle cry
gone to whisper
that tiki torch looking oddly like
a single zippo flame in the dark
at a lynyrd skynyrd reunion tour
today
I stood in line with the others
rode the elevator to the top
to get a panoramic view
of the rotten apple
I blocked out the day
to get inside her head
the death of empathy is the birth of barbarism

I could ramble on for a thousand words trying to tell you why I liked your poem.
It was like a string of images strung together with care like a matched pearl necklace around her throat.

thanks for writing.

to get inside her head
that tied it together nicely

I blocked out the day
to get inside her head
really liked that, actually liked it all....

I tried to do that myself some 20 odd years ago, i only got as far as her feet.
I don't recall there being an elevator though.

Enjoyed, as always :)
The path to true love isn't always straight.
