BOOZING WITH BUKOWSKI.

Post by dadio » June 29th, 2011, 3:25 pm

You sit in the bar alone
Except Bukowki’s ghost
At the far end supping
A phantom beer and
Gazing at his reflection
In the mirror on the wall
Above the bar when a fat
Whore enters and takes a
Stool and asks the barkeep
For a gin and gives you a look
Like your Mother used to give
When you pooed your pants
Or puked after too many beers
And ghostly Bukowski hums a
Mozart aria with no words just
The theme that wounds you
Like a loved one dying in a dream.

engaging poem, was particularly fond of the last four lines.....
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

Dadio, this Bukowski piece is one of the better ones you've done lately. It seems more authentic. I like the pictures that you post with many of the other
poems, but the titles seem a bit contrived & too dependent on the artwork.
I'm more apt to like more free standing poems like this one.

I also would be interested in your comments about my works. I appreciated
your input in the past. You seem to have unending resources with this artwork.
Once again, I wish I had developed that talent, but it is not my cup of tea. :D

.. I can listen to myself (without voice) saying sometimes in dreams after a bizarre sequence of imagenes, "why I am so touched if this already happened???", I agree with Hester, love the four last lines hum... gracias!!!! :)

Really cool poem, Dadio. Just one teensy change --- "supping" usually implies food. "Sipping" would be the right word, since you sip liquids, including phantom ones. Sue
