what if midnight was never scary

Post by saw » July 1st, 2011, 10:54 am

what if I actually had
something to say
some nugget so profound
it would make you smile
cry or something,
what if i stumbled upon
some morsel of wisdom
you could easily swallow
with a glass of liquid moonlight
not like a bitter pill
like a vitamin of serenity,
what if I tapped into
a universal vein by accident
my pen electrified like a hypodermic
by some abhorrent energy
looking for an insomniac just like me
to push the plunger,
what if we could all be
vehicles of enlightenment
by simply learning how to sit still
somewhere safely and quietly
awaiting the signals of that moment,
oh, i don't know
perhaps that would be too boring.
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

poetry
faster than the speed of light
slower than moonlight

gloom and glow
doom and maroon
I would be bored without your poetry 8)

I think you answered your own question but it's always thoughtfuls that you're asking.

July Fourth
it was a good day
not the same for me as it used to be for me
"I used to sleep at the foot of old glory..."
I have avoided all the patriotic TV specials today
no filth but a shot of gin
Charles Bukowski as patriotic as it gets for me today

that really was a good poem
I just wanted to say that again
enjoy more every time I reread it.

thanx so much for the very kind words, truck, for taking the time to not only read multiple times, but to respond in a thoughtful way....what more could any poet want......i was exaggerating about the fifth, but it seemed like the natural order after the 4th.....no flag waving for me either.....hung out with family trying to occasionally become aware that this time could be the last for one of us.....didn't dwell there....just made a note...........thanx again
