Nikos Scanned His Wife.

Post by dadio » July 10th, 2011, 5:04 am

Nikos scanned his wife, she sat opposite
Eating breakfast, he watched her hand
Spooning food, the ringed fingers
Clutching tight, childlike in intensity.
The mouth open, the small teeth,
The tongue, the always-wagging tongue.
He studied her hair, blonde, long, dishevelled.
He looked away, imagined Gina
From the office sitting there,
She eating the food, her face opposite,
Her brunette hair well cut
And managed adjacent to him.
He mouthed his food, the grapefruit,
The tang, the bittersweet, the mouthful.
He recalled the night, the sex,
The in the dark making out kind of sex,
Pretended Gina was there, her legs about him,
Her lips on his neck, she whom he was entering.
He sipped his coffee, looked up,
His wife was finger-nailing food
From between her teeth, the red nail
Like some red claw. She smiled, made eyes,
The do you want to come to bed again eyes.
He looked at the tablecloth, flowers, yellow,
Wrapped by ribbons, birds in flight.
He looked at his wife, saying,
Not just now, Honey, maybe tonight.
If only Gina had been there,
Her eyes making the come along,
Her lips blowing kisses from her palm,
She who he could say yes to.
His wife looking sad saying,
Ok Nikos will do.

Very well written and descriptive piece. Nikos at breakfast and his yearnings away from the table.

Good poetry.
