the alarmist media is the mouthpiece of the corporate pushers that know fear is a great consumer booster.....fireproof safes, over the counter and prescription drugs, magna-seal steel doors, alarm systems that call the police ( that are too busy to respond in the first hour,anyway), deadly bacteria, inoculations for everything bad in the universe, space debris, it may be better if I don't go outside anymore...
stockpiling can goods and water...
Y2K...Viruses, ....pests that turn your world upside down, they must be poisoned!
terrorist around every corner.....we'll need to strip search you madam.....
yes mnazzinator.....it's a scary planet.....( so are some of the other ones, ah yes, I forgot to mention aliens)

fear is indeed a great marketing tool, revenue generator and ratings booster. religion too, quite the wedge, the spearhead . . .
i hope this teetering mouse-click economy our ours, now filled much more with wealth-dividers and manipulators than wealth-producers (or so it seems), can "soldier on," as it were ...
