long poem about absolutely nothing

Post by mnaz » July 30th, 2011, 8:38 pm

they all tried it
the mongols, the mobsters
the french, british and russians
the jews, muslims and christians
last of all the americans
all short of monopoly

the attempts were easier
when the other side was
inherently evil, first rule,
send us to kill us
greed is natural

favorite scene in the misfits
perce chucks the empty whiskey bottle
over the stock pen fence
you sucked the toxic teat
now go ride the bull

lazy, shiftless peasants
we own them, and their children
a contract signed in blood profit
joe strummer sang "what's my name?"
on the eve of losing our identity
to the machine and its hackers

I think you nailed the ending mnazzy.....your connection is to the earth, the smells, the living.....whereas the other guys, well, they are into something else.....money, power, greed, but they are false gods so to speak.....idols with no spirit....I like the places you pass by on this ride, and I'd say the poem is definitely not about nothing.......

man, i could watch the misfits a thousand times..
especially when roslyn (marilyn) and gay (clark) both realize on a dry lake
playa the bullshit of the truth of being "free"... that is a powerful flick
out there in the brilliant nothingness of the nevada desert...

yes, i was listening to music too..
thanks terry, and steve..

This is far, far from being about absolutely nothing. Problem is the people who should read it and reflect on it won't ever read it.

i like that flick too - high-test acting from all involved. rather visionary. reminds me somewhat of the last picture show. at any rate, neato poem!
