not clever enough
so i sit quiet
take it all in like a drain
everything is rattling in my pipes
that are a calliope of indigestion
a circus of burps
false starts
moons over Milwaukee
Chicago on the el rattling
holding on to the bar

not clever enough
to make nonsense out of logic
and too feeble to throw the conventional
rational
provisional
mind away like one would any package
and yes the batteries are plugged in
recharging
you see the little red light of my mind
and the smoke coming from the socket
an overload
of language-fact-opinion
maybe the trinity
and I know little else
except other people's spins
on which I ride
dizzily
though the nausea is my own
but not clever enough
to sort the hairs of the mystery
and discover the connections
in my head
which are certainly wired
to project
an opinion about this life
that I can’t put in words
exactly

in the sacred geometry
that is you and me
we are flesh eaters
translucent skin
entered,

our daily repast
our hunger personified
primordial
waves crashing against cliff
and bone,
moss clings to the North
side
and we are swallowed by eternity

rivers of desire returning to the sea
speak of this,
marrow’s pillow-talk,
clouds of unknowing,
wanton lust,

billowing redemption
rituals of man and woman
clinging
like temporal Gods.

And yet you have. captured well.

let's hope things never get any clearer for you, it might hamper your poetic voice that tries to analyze it all and then articulate it .....enjoyed the ride Irish
