blackness
heavy
oppressive
hitting
nails in coffin
brain matter exploding
colours weighing
mass building
to black

face front
wiggle fingers
can’t see
movement
stealth is king
blackness reigns
pours complete
drowns the sodden effigy
scarecrow begs for mercy

pinpoints
patterns of black
mixed
with grey
with white
light
pierces
searches
burns irises
heats surfaces
blackness runs
like inks spilt
on a table tilt

borders to be crossed
depression to be lost
in the blinding fight
the calming might
of white light
sight

And what is black in this poem...powerful, recurring, evasive, in focus and not requiring definition but longing for clarity and hidden in shadows behind depth and wonder? What's the blackness? How I can I meet it, say hello and ask it questions? Where is the enlightening black that backs us up?

when will we catch on that darkness/lightness is not a moral issue (even if the privilege differentials we try to assign are)?
