a space cowboy in an age of unreason

the presence of fear is equivalent
to the absence of reason, the real
terrorists are the leaders who exaggerate
the danger
throw your television in the East River
go to the public library, check out
a big pile of history books, look up
some independent media on the internet
commercial free of course and eshew
the likes of Jerry Bruckheimer type
portrayals of enemies in caves
whose only purpose on this planet
is waiting for a tiny window to kill you
celebrate investigation, honor the fearless
journalist, and don't forget Joe McCarthy,
hear the words of Edward R. Murrow,
" We will not be driven by fear
into an age of unreason."
please don't call me Mr. Didactic
call me the space cowboy, call me
Maurice, call me the gangster of love.
