prophetic madness
overcame the Pythia of Delphi
the priestess that wagged
her tongue for Apollo
her voice became guttural
as he entered her
and they drank
from the sacred spring.
when she
was in her right mind
her achievements amounted
to little or nothing
but in her insanity
Greece surely gained
despite the notorious blunders
of Apollo, his oft bad advice
his awful predictions,
the oracles sensible movement
her human intelligence
intuition.....insight
couched in poetry, uttered
in wild onomatopoeic cries
was raw articulate speech
ready
and in need of interpretation
