Beatle shine

the Beatles sang our days
in the life
chanting happened
inside the rock and roll
the long roll of the all
you need is love
and no heaven above
a Beatle song could last
you all through the week
what the world needs now
is a song that makes poets
come from the stars and shine
like an ancient day in the light
that sings in the hard days nigh
fool on a hill, stones standing high
for the last best rays coming
through those fingers of stone
I read the news today, oh joy
so this is Christmas
so this is 2012
so the heart of the milky way
opens to the core, let it be
let it be, peace on earth
I want to hold your center
of the galaxy, happy krimble

a festive piece chock full of beatle fragments and a simpler times perhaps....and George and John
left this madness behind
for strawberry fields in the sky
with lucy's diamonds dangling
and Ringo and Paul
keep Elinor Rigby's face
in a jar by the door
for safekeeping as the world
prepares the yule log
for a slow burn

Coincidentally we were listening to old Beatles tunes yesterday.

Love the poem and your comment Saw.

p.s. I'm still learning to come together and let it be, my sweet lord.

Where are the Beatles now that we need them so? Let's bring back the sixties! Cool nostalgia you've evoked here. :)

wrote this in about 5 min. flat, it could
have been even more full of Beatle song references
the stone part was a reference to the rolling stones
and also because it was the solstice on the 22
a reference to Stonehenge
and 2012 and all that Mayan calender stuff

i did bring back the 60's in my novel Gone Hallucinogen Freeway
otherwise the 60's state of mind never ended it just got cycled

The Beatle songs reverberate in your poem which does come shining from that idealism & romanticism that we make the stars say to us.
