But the soul

warrior romantic
with damaged skein
the threads that bind
times together

you fell beneath
the horse's path
his hoof, careful, missed
your skull

nights are darker
but the soul
stays warm
the way of blood-strewn war

shield of dents
sword chipped, not bending
helmet lost
long time ago.
