you're in deep shit
when the ballot box
is your only hope. when you go
ALL IN with the cards you were dealt
by that vested slick-haired potted plant,
knowing of course it don't matter
what kind of hand you have anyway
the house always wins in the end,
but still you hold out
like a dead lottery player,
so you raise the stakes
with a gun in your hand
but bullets come flying back at you
and you don't know why
they would shoot at a man
wearing an orange vest
while waving a white flag
and then it hits you literally
and figuratively, the bullet
wouldn't be so bad, yes
there is a world out there
beyond the final frontier
of B-movie-actor elections
where real people cry,
out of the political reach
of even the longest fingers
on the longest arms
that never manage
to scratch the soft underbelly
deep space, deep shit
dats it

America, and people thought John Wayne was deep.
