decisions decisions ....in the modern world

between the iron bars
the landlord installed,
not for my protection
for his liability given the sudden
turn to the dark ages 'round here

I see this skull-capped dude
on my front porch acting
nonchalant, whistling like
carefree happy catbird, like
a lost soul that took a wrong turn

on dead street, ended up
at the intersection of doom
oops my mistake, he has a purpose
he's considering his options
into the belly of the beast

a wanderlust look in his eye
like a tot looking at all the candy
jars on the counter of the corner store
and of course he probably doesn't know
my car is in the shop

and being the careful watcher
that supports his occupation
he naturally assumes I'm at work
and this leaves me with a tough decision
to make, do I hit him with this nine iron

before he comes in or afterward
do I yell "Fore" or "Heads Up !"....
then it hits like the gospel on quick thinking
my aluminum baseball bat
gives me far better control
