tango

when the table overturns
and what was on our plates
is food for dogs
and war is immanent
in our dance of retaliation,
when the willow is broken
on a child's backside
to teach a lesson and the
schools are defunded yet
there's loans to pay and
houses are boarded up
but hoarders live on the streets
when you and I make love in the
turmoil of existence, dancing to
the rhythm of our bodies,
then and only then will we have begun
again. This ancient tango, voluptuous
and luminous in the heat of each moment
baring the gift of our presence in the archives
of our poetry.
read me and weep.
