weed road

this morning something told me 'just go'
so i went- and the tatooed boy that snaked my sight
lies flies came staggering outta the bushes
telling stories
i sold him some weed
and went and bought a pack of smokes
boy started to slither
had to tell him
hold up- gave him a name
he quit with that tongue flickering
tasting my air
smelling me
whipped his tail back into his coiled up body
gave me the money and said, thank you aloha
that is the way i like it=see
no lip
the other day
i went to town
the boy i picked up hitchiking told me where he was from
was running from one of these houses down the road
i suddenly saw an old friend
when he was a young
his sad eyes
he had seen the bogey man
the softness that came with that moment
is my secret
because i knew beneathe those overtures of love
there was a sad afraid little boy
had to grow up fast
but these moments are quick
back to the family of so many little girls on the beach
the pregnant mommy
all the friends of thirty years on that beach
as these children have children
we sing with wind and fire and laughter
sunlight where there was once darkness
so i went- and the tatooed boy that snaked my sight
