a black glass morning fills
my dinosaur with nostalgia
for the future

we spoke of the old schoolhouses
it took them years
to disappear

my dinosaur picked black glass
from his teeth & said,
"I used to have a dog like that
but dreaming was all he really wanted to do.
I'd take him for a walk in the woods
and he would dream out there too."
