If you listened to the sound
of bells with complete
silence you would be riding on it -
or, rather, the sound would carry you
across the valley and over the hill.

The beauty of it is felt only
when you and the sound
are not separate, when you
are part of it. Meditation is
the ending of the separation,
but not by any action of will
or desire.

Meditation is not a separate
thing from life;
it is the very essence of life,
the very essence of daily living

I couldn’t agree more. When I meditate, I can actually feel energy emitting from the tips of my fingers. There’s a transcendent feeling that the energy is in (physical) touch with whatever it is my eyes see. I know that I’m connected to the universe - to all of you - and, as this poem more than implies, without any effort or intent on my part. Meditation explained beautifully here.

To friendship,
Michael

ps I wish that everything I wrote wasn't automatically centered, however.

Spot on. As a man who was once a novice monk this rings so real. Fine poem.
