the magic life we search for
lies in the movement of bones,
lies in the flexing tendons, in
the contracting muscles, but

even more significant
is the animation of thought
a sacred force that enables
anyone to be the artist of their destiny

that doesn't mean there will always be a happy ending
but each and every day the mind is begging us
to be taken to the park like the family dog, and
let off the leash for regeneration, to chase

spinning frisbees of our imagination's potential
excited and panting in the expectation
that at any wonderful moment we can time our jump
perfectly and catch the disc of creativity in our teeth

and run wild with it in the fields
tongue dangling in the longevity of promise
