Sal & Dean unsympathetic....
chasing mirages
just out of arm's reach
for a mythical slice
of stale apple pie, preferred
any two-bit shit job
to the slow death of Willy Loman
to life on a bus with an attache,
they flew down the highway
in a stolen car racing in stolen time
hands on the wheel, gravel flying
like buckshot, top down on conformity
angst flicked like hot ashes
from non-filtered Camels,
elbows out the windows
white shirts fluttering in the winds
of unrest, no chance of gray flannel,
suits were like premature parachutes
on the ass of a souped up dragster
heading for freedom, no albatross
mortgages could lasso mustang men,
necks soaked with road grease,
elusive lead feet hard on the floorboard
young hair blowing like a flag of defiance,
ignoring flashing lights, crashing thru
barriers, missing hellbound trains
by fractions of eyelashes, waving
bye bye to the towns on the blood red
horizons, hearts hungry like cheetahs
on the prowl for their reflections, the B-side
to humdrum patterns left in the desert air
goodbye to bland generations die-cast
in monotony, granddad to father, daddy
to son, brother to brother and on & on
passed down like used clothing, baggy
in the seat, draped like an anchor
misshapen, threadbare, faded
just plain .....over worn.

I like the theme and structure of this poem and don't know how i missed it first time around.
