a lottery of kisses

eternal things in the absence of
transient items in contemplation
lasting things like a sunrise over the ocean
in a lottery of kisses

as if a summer's afternoon explained
the content of a love
that created itself out of context of words

and how long the afternoon became

the creation of things in the absence
of a paint and canvas
to become the brush in each line
of colour in the emotional beginning

as if a summer's afternoon became
the metaphor of a longing
to exist within the creation itself

and how sweet the taste
of your summer kisses became

in the heat of the day the afternoon
drifts in the expanse of an ocean
lost at sea

in the great wide open never reaching shore
as if the shore represents the end of desire
the end of creation itself

the longing and contemplation
from the content of words in the cliche
i love you

the summer's afternoon in a lottery
of kisses and within

each other in the water of love
and how it contains itself
within its own context
as islands contained by the ocean
