when we meet again

The night I met you
Neil Young was playing at a saloon
you stood there at the back of the joint
the moment our eyes met, we met again
even though I had never seen you before
in this life

that night I drank a lot of beer
but the more I drank the more sober I became
something had hit me like karma sledgehammer
I believe now that I saw a lifetime pass before me

that I saw deep inside heart of the unconscious
I saw love blazing through the core of the universe
the moment I saw you standing there your curly hair
something broke inside me a deluge of tears of joy
that the voice that came to me a month or so before
that told me I would meet you, now became a poem
of the life we would share together

now I remember walking hand in hand with you
down along the pan handle of golden gate park
in the garden of Eden baby, in this strange land
we were walking into another eternity together
destiny and destiny holding each other close
before the onslaught of time and death do us dark

you said that you always loved me and always will
you gave me everything that your sweet body and soul
could give, you were truly one in a million one of
those stars that shine so bright, we were running
away from families that did not function well
we ran straight into each others loving arms
ran for dear life dear I always loved you
and always will
