on the islands, they speak of the 'night marchers' some say menehuene- the little people-then; people say a whole lot of things-the humidity takes some getting used to- what we think about late at night- seeing things in the jungle- sometimes it is as if timelessness has become present- hours float by- some call it polynesian paralysais- a languid, sensual opening of the places that had been closed off from sunlight for so very long-i wonder at the kapu of men and women eating together- how different we are- and the men eat quite differently then the women-
with the calabash =inside is the poi- we set out under the trees to eat.
