of cruel jazz

I drink the ocean of cruel jazz
waiting in the alleys of the twentieth century
already at the wits end of an age of wonder
walking down the one thousand B movie street
where I meet you with rain drop shoes
making the wild flowers smile

looking for that last kiss fix under the blood light
a moon so naked in the lust eyed city night sky
a thirst so chancy in the impossible thrust trust
her gilded thighs of poems open wide for the ride
we confide our unconscious content in the fun
we can only wait in the underground book
of the done one none at all

calling out her name as each star blinks like a cold
diamond of eternal flame
as the ancient tears flood down my cheeks of stone

my goddess, my eternal friend
your soul like a gypsy moth too close to the holy glint
your bright heart a candle in the sacred vault of time
I wrote this poem when we followed each other
through the fun house maze coming forth
through the Neptune's palace of radiant dream
when the last rays of the old aeon blazed
my love, my holy glint of forever you

I drank the ocean of cruel jazz
and you appeared in the poet mist of written days
