climbing

And the days wander by,
All the same within the web
But all different in the skein.
Time is, time was,
Time shall ever be.
What we make of it,
Ah, there’s the rub.
It IS all up to US in the end
No one can tell you,
No one can guide you.
The master’s mountain
Is not YOUR mountain.
In the end, we all climb alone;
To our own heights
And to our own rewards
Chosen, consciously or no
By the very acts
Of our own
Existence.

shem, nice narrative, to which I add:

Some folks say they don’t have time,
can never stop to rest.
Some folks say to make some which
is difficult at best.

Some folks say time’s running out
and don’t know where to go
to get some more when all is gone.
It’s something we should know.

Is there such a shop around
that sells time by the block
of minutes, hours or even days.
“Buy now for a free clock!”

Are there two for one sales there?
Wait! The fourth line will rhyme!
And if there are would it be fair
to call it double time.

And there are those who always stay
and work some overtime,
but no one ever hears the words,
“I’m working under time.”

Time is something you can’t take
or even give away.
It’s always there for you to use
each minute of each day.

So put your own time to the test
and see what comes of it.
Fill it with your heart’s desire,
but make sure it will fit.

Most definitely not as elegantly put as your piece, but in total agreement with you, nonetheless.

Thanks for your thoughtful verse.

CKA,
Michael

I don't know what time it is anymore for sure. Late for me to be trying to figure it out at 73. I am still a kid giving it all away. I am running on sidereal time these days trusting to my internal eternal inertial guidance, risky for sure, my heretical faith, I have bet my life on it.

you gave me my magic word for today
thank you for writing

Origin of SKEIN

Middle English skeyne, from Middle French (Picard) escagne, probably from Vulgar Latin *scamnia, from *scamniare to wind yarn, from *scamnium rack for holding bobbins, from Latin scamnum bench, stool — more at shambles
First Known Use: 14th century
Skein may refer to:
A flock of geese or ducks in V formation flight
A wound ball of yarn with a centre pull strand, see Hank (textile)
TV Series, used part of Variety's slanguage.
Skein dubh, a Scottish knife
Skein module, a mathematical concept
Skein relation, a mathematical concept often used to give a simple definition of knot polynomials
Skein (comics), a fictional supervillain in the Marvel Comics universe
Skein (hash function), a candidate hash function to the NIST hash function competition from Bruce Schneier et al.
please pardon the ramble

73? And you call yourself a kid? I’m but an infant, then, at 63.

Thank you for the kind words. I must say, if 73 is a kid and 63 is an infant, then at the inverse of one of those, I must not even be an idea yet!
