I woke up today
the same hippie
i was fifty years ago
in every significant measurable way

and some immeasurable ones as well
so i said to myself
no need to apologize for any of this
you are free brother

to worship whatever
you choose, but let me say this, hippie
is not some long-haired freak that marked an era,
hippie.....is a way of life

a tao for breathing

We can only say this in a poem
wanted to be a beatnik
but it was a hippie
that I became
just when that word
began to mean something
in one ancient future trip like moment
before it became another household word

woke up today yesterday and tomorrow
met the flower child of my wildest dreams

A way of being captured and said well.
