Ezra might have been on to something

Ezra might have been on to something
when he penned, the only thing that matters
is the quality of affection, that in the end
that carves the trace in the mind

perhaps he meant that DNA could be restructured,
compassion could be etched into cells, empathy
was not a weakness but a trait to be passed on
to future generations that could grow into impeccable lovers

as a poet warrior, you needn't be hard all the time
you needn't fear the vulnerability
that comes with sharing your heart with strangers
or those inside your circle of linked loops of chain

who knows what might happen with an army
of love-spreaders marching ever so lightly across the planet
gathering disciples that eschew the drums of war
zombies for peace, love, and understanding

what's so funny about that ?

It beats me, I been trying to change my chromosomes for the past forty years— but the poetry helps a lot.

thank you

centuries of conditioning (and no, it is not genetic) will be hard to break.

though ultimately necessary for survival of the race as a whole ....

yea mnaz...it seems he was more interested in denouncing US policies, but instead of simply dissenting, he went off the deep end.....he was too crazy to jail, so they stuck him in a sanitarium for awhile....why is it, so many talented artists are insane ?
