[sweetwater]

like a tall ageless tree
in moving marvel
toiling endless through the dark night

ships that pass before the dawn in the
overstated metaphor of experience
and instruction

the journey on a horse
without a name making references
as to obligate
the absurd adventure of reading
studioeight poets
after years
and the invention of oneself
in the construct of being
that becomes us
at some point in

breaking free
from instructors
directors guardians and surrogates

poetically poeticizing the semantics
of life and learning and spelling

we venture to
the delight of living
and we chance upon guided tours
into parallel universes

at a glance created as water drinks
from exuberant exerting exits and entrances
without cliches as a retirement plan

seemingly enthralled
by the freedom of
the independence and the celebration
that ritually occurs and the
venture it provides

the memory of things past
in the absence of marvellous similes and metaphors
like the sweet scent of wild roses
on a sea of prairie grass

to sit back and enjoy we decide the ride
in quiet meditation

what we have learned
as much to contemplateas to remember what made us
feel great
important and indelible
and good
as much to forget
what became lost upon us
as words as much to say

what the mind
can possibly imagine
