sitting at the bottom of the sea tear
in the morning of the psychedelic year
I'm walking along the soda pop store fronts
dreaming of living roller coasters
guided by super currents of love
I'm down by the beatnik magazines

I have contraband hidden in my holy pockets
little pieces of eternity, tiny skulls, lost glitter
gathered from a distant archaic painted era
stolen moon rock dirt tucked into the cloth
miniature prayer wheels, space diamonds
from clutching the sparkles of dusted eyes

fragments of stardust consciousness
resting there with the luck charms & found objects
broken dream powder mixing with the forbidden
pollen of the dragon nomad butterfly
the mermaid memories captured in the arcade
bits of glass broken off from the one true hourglass
particles of sand placed there by sleep renegades

I cross over to the other side of the world jazz sounds
through people river street, I greet the chaos sculpture
in the center of the vast open temple of god toys
dervish hubcaps placed in cheap black light mirrors
rotating like some gorgeous contraption pagan tree

reflecting the ocean puddle up young girls dress
your rot rod mind in the gaudy candy lights
next to silver dollar alley where poets bleed ink
I next you ask why does the poet always disappear
like some dime store novel character shit heels
through the swirling curtains of grotesque visions
vapors escape like thieves of the absurd
but the strange hoodoo music hallucination
follows you into the carnival door horizon

rising from drunken ancient mariner undergrounds
hypnotic harlequin local loco lingo language cavorts
mists of Babylon roll in at the appointed gypsy hour
gray whispers harlots of fogs float in front of the pearl
of wisdom spacecraft all taken with a grain of morphine
