just sayin

Post by saw » September 6th, 2013, 10:41 am

I wonder if it was always like this
the impossibility of modernity
I wonder if shepherds struggled
getting granite encased sheep to move

minds and bones inflexible to change,
I wonder if Plato ever had trouble making friends
If Socrates occasionally spent a few hours
banging his head on thorny branches

in between the philosophizing and preaching
and doing the dance of the seven veils
I wonder if Aristotle was a bitter old man
home alone in his room with only his lofty ideas

staring into the mirror rehearsing
how to put on a happy face
I wonder if any of them was ever afraid
or nervous

or sad
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

nice-
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle
How many Greeks does it take to change a culture?
Pardon the ramble. I Liked your poem, never read much of any of them
Just about them, mostly Nietzsche. I think he felt it was a bad day in Black Rock when the Greeks met up with the Jews in the New Testament.

Modernity
everybody is restless
here in the USA
the last bastion of the holy roman empire.
