I wondered to myself is this my house?
I'm sure I was there
I remember how close I was to your eyes
we locked ourselves in there and went exploring
the day was of use
the night too.
every word was new
we made small cones from this language as we went
scattering them on the landscape
you were the wife of the whole place
there were televisions then & in every gun knowledge of the whole
the marriage was our beautiful property
and the hitchhiker late for work we picked up that morning, was thankful
& gave us a free pass for the ride through the gorge
