sometimes I just want to burn it
call it a category
most poets would make lousy clerks
but my clothes couldn't handle it
some days I might as well dress as a cemetery
working out from the center
i don't know how they do it
out on the coast but around here
one century is much like another
we get born
we camp out
then we die
no chance of changing anything at all that
really matters & the rants right or wrong
just get swallowed up by the who cares
and the mist
I once worked for the Mohawks
making bingo cards
not a bad gig either - boring as hell as
you might imagine but there were perks
then the Indians decided to outsource
to save money
& all us in-house boys & girls
were out and out
fuck me to Friday
first thing we did was go down
to the rez diner
and get ourselves a meal
lookin' at each other as we ate
wondering who was gonna land on their feet
and who to go splat
Jake Spake went to clubbing clouds for a living
I asked him if he needed help
he told me, "Look, sorry, there's just enough clouds for me."
I don't know what that Morrison guy was hooting about either
ordering his subscription to the resurrection cancelled -
I never got a subscription in the first place
all I got was a lawyer-proof birth to death sentence
no hope of parole
sometimes I just
sometimes I just

I like this.
I don't know what this means
Jake Spake went to clubbing clouds for a living
I guess the Morrison reference is to Jim Morrison.
but I like the overall poem and the ending too. Some really interesting lines.

Thx folks -
Irish Sea - Jake Spake is a stand-in - a blending of sorts of various people I have known from various times & different places - I have put the same face on all of them & given them the same name because they really all have the same face & the same name - "clubbing clouds" is the dreaming we all do when our eyes are wide open and it's a hell of a job - clubbing clouds is the job you have when you don't have a job - it's a way to describe what you do when you don't have any other gainful employment - in anything - Jake is/was a real person upon which I have hung many things & people - I guess when it comes down to it, at least as I have used him here, Jake Spake is a Christmas tree.
